BUSY!

Dear Life…

“Why do we only rest in peace? why don’t we live in peace too?”

Ramma Thakkar

So it’s 2020 and all I hear from friends, family and people in general is how busy they are, are we really that busy? Or is busy just a way of saying you’re not a priority!!

Birthdays, a very important day of your life. Today just reduced to a shear text if you’re lucky, otherwise just an image received on Whatsapp!  Growing up it was waiting for that special phone call all day long, sometimes an international call booked via the operator, where that 3 minute call meant everything. A visit from friends and family with a gift, didn’t matter how big or small.  Nowadays the phone has become a vital part of you, but to call someone has become a distant memory!

Going to the library to do your research, reading a newspaper to see the daily news, waiting for that letter…these days is a question for uncle Google, and you have your answer within seconds, so how are we busier now than we were then?

Ask someone how they are today and the chances are on autopilot they will say: “Fine, just busy.”

Busy? Meaning life is hectic? Being occupied?

Things happen, people change, and we suddenly become busy – the new defined fine! Therefore, are we just hiding behind the word, busy? Hiding our fears? Our worries?  Afraid of confrontation? Who knows?

I for one will never be busy for the ones I love, my door is always open, I will always be there at the end of the phone. Happy to listen with an open and non–judgmental mind! Anyone who needs a chat is always welcome; I have food in the fridge, coffee and tea in the cupboards, a strong shoulder to cry on and prayers to share. This is an old fashioned value – one which I wish to hold on to! A lot has been lost to technology, and sometimes an Emoji, text or Facebook message is not enough.  Life has changed, and priorities are different but time spent with the ones I love is precious and is moving fast! So, go on, break that pattern and call or visit that someone special as time waits for no one!

TIME maybe a conversation with our ‘dear life’ for another day.

Ramma.
